FLIGHT OF THE FANTASTIC
2011
In this image you see Pooja talking to a viewer about the painting. She explains how the work was inspired by a want to explore paths unseen and pushing ones boundaries one journey at a time.

DIVE OF THE DIVINE
2011
The lines give birth to spaces, divide them and make them compatible, as parts of a whole, telling a thousand tales along their paths. Linearity, as such, does not exist between the figurative and the abstract.

FLUID INTERACTIONS
2011
Drawn from personal references, experiences and memories, the images and forms visualise spontaneously in monochromatic and minimalist palettes. From the renditions, the viewer conveys alternative plateaux of imagination. For linearity, as such, does not exist between the figurative and the abstract.

EMOTION A
2015
A repetitive drawing of a female wooing a male with flowers is depicted. When looked at closely you can see her hair is bound to his feet. Through this work I explore themes of societal oppression and female servile behavior in today’s machismo world.

EMOTION B
2015
Orthodox religious dogma, feminism and female sexual liberation are themes that I explore through this series. Through my research I am attempting to understand the true nature and function of a female in the 21st century, is she the aggressive feminist or the submissive vessel of procreation?Â

SURFACES OF CONTRADICTION
2015
These sculptural boxes invoke a sense of tension, contradiction, the rooted and the deracinated, vessels of storage and stillness. Yet the smell of the jasmine and the one helium balloon pulling the second balloon invoke sensations of hope. A hope to break the cycle of conditioned robotic female existence.

THE VESSEL
2015
A white ceramic vase hangs from the ceiling; its neck is sliced so that a plait of black hair can rise from it to the ceiling. Along with it you can hear a voice recording on repeat. It is a revolt against the oppression a society has forced on women and a lack of freedom due to fear. The work instantly takes one to visions of oppression, hanging and death. The vase is a domestic item used for decoration purposes.Â
I raise the question, are women only objects of decoration?Â
Is that what society expects of them?
